World Unlimited
World Unlimited is a voluntary, not
for profit, organisation formed in 1989 to bring the best in International
roots artists to
We explore and present traditional
roots and contemporary new musics developed and inspired from traditional
sources. We endeavour to make performances open to all, reflecting the
cosmopolitan mix of
World Unlimited has gained a
reputation as one of the leading national promoters from musicians, agencies
and audiences alike and aims to further develop these skills in the furtherance
of bringing top International artists to an even wider audience. We aim to
range presentations, to challenge stereotypes, and to reach out to people who
do not attend events in the more conventionally structured performance spaces.
This initiative is allied to the continuing search for suitable venues in areas
that are under-represented on the performance map.
Education
Education / workshop provision is a
further development area. We are currently sponsored by the arts council and
awards for all for a community workshop series that is working young artists
who are workshop practioners under the guidance of Kuadashe Matimbah, looking
at skill development and cross cultural collaboration, they will in turn work
with a range of different communities. In all aspects of the work World
Unlimited undertakes, paramount importance will be given to taking a pro-active
role in the development , maintenance and consolidation of a pluralistic and
multi-cultural society.
